The company maintains a rental fleet consisting of more than 20,000 units, including steel tanks, polyethylene tanks, roll-off boxes, pumps, pipes, hoses and fittings, filtration units, tank trailers, berms and trench shoring equipment.  BakerCorp  serves customers in over 15 industries including oil and gas, industrial and environmental services, refining, environmental remediation, construction, chemicals, transportation, power and municipal works. The company also works with customers to deliver a mix of products and services for a wide variety of applications that include: chemical, manufacturing, refining, construction, municipal, industrial services, environmental remediation, power generation, tank terminal/pipeline operations, transportation, mining, electronics and wastewater. 

 

 

Shop/Yard Supervisor

 

Broad Function:  Supervise a team of shop and/or yard personnel to ensure highest quality rent-ready equipment availability.  Oversee and comply with optimized processes and procedures to deliver best cost efficiencies for the Branch and Baker bottom line.

 



Essential Functions

  • Manage day‐ to‐day activities and process flow for a team comprised of technicians, mechanics and/or welders with a goal of safe and effective Branch operations

  • Manage required Training for all direct reports  - track progress and ensure compliance

  • Run “Start of Day” safety meetings for Shop/Yard team

  • Monitor safety and regulatory compliance to ensure compliance with safety policies and OSHA regulations

  • Responsible for performance of all QMS processes achieving 80% quality rate

  • Manage equipment inspection process (complete inspections when necessary)

  • Manage/prioritize repair process (complete repairs when necessary)

  • Manage and enter work order process and paperwork as needed

  • Check-in of off-rent equipment on Yard/Manage Tags

  • Responsible for the proper disposition of and treatment for spent and waste media

  • Responsible for the management of the Branch Safety Observation process and safety results

  • Maintain PPE availability for Shop/Yard team

  • Report customer equipment damage and fuel Issues  to FOS to minimize Baker cost exposure

  • Required to attend weekly branch MOS meeting and provide report out on Shop/Yard

  • Responsible for timely management of Service Call Board

  • Responsible for Shop/Yard inventory management, as follows:

  • Shop Parts Ordering 

  • Stocking

  • Responsible for 5S and Housekeeping, as follows:

  • Assist Area Owners with compliance

  • Daily Inspections with Branch Operations Manager

  • Continuous Improvement

  • Responsible for approval of direct report timecards pursuant to branch needs

  • Responsible for performance and talent management of direct reports

  • All other duties as assigned

 

Lifting Requirements

  • Heavy work:  Lifting or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a proactively diverse and inclusive organization

  • Ability to work within a highly service-oriented team culture

  • Working knowledge of trucks and other yard equipment

  • Knowledge of DOT/OSHA compliance

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi‐task.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.

  • Comfortable working in a hands‐on environment

  • High energy level, strong sense of ethics, discretion and adherence to process

  • Ability to be on‐call 24 hours per day

  • Ability to make occasional overnight trips

  • Ability to drive at licensing level deemed necessary for branch

  • Ability and willingness to seek out areas for improvement and solve problems

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred

 

Experience & Other

  • 3‐5 years of supervisory related experience, required

  • Rental/industrial experience is helpful

  • State-Issued Driver’s License

  • Working knowledge of computer systems & processes

  • Supervisory experience with knowledge of employment practices
