Regional Business Process Leader

This role can be located in or near one of three areas:

  1. Denver, CO
  2. Long Beach, CA
  3. Pittsburg, CA

Broad Function

The Regional Business Process Leader (RBPL) will be a key member of Baker’s Corporate Field Operations team reporting directly to the Operations Department with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Regional General Manager. The RBPL will interface and work closely with the Regional General Managers and Regional Finance Managers to review the performance of the branches and prioritize key initiative projects and activities that will be the responsibility of the RBPL.  The RBPL will coordinate closely with Branch Operations Managers and Branch Administrative Specialist(s) to provide the necessary support required to ensure that branches and key personnel are following the best practices identified.  RBPL’s will provide training and support to Branch personnel in their regions, as required.  Regional Business Process Leaders help develop and lead the adoption of best practices through operational excellence initiatives (a.k.a six sigma or lean practices).  Regional Business Administration Manager activities include recommending improvements to increase efficiency, meet financial objectives, and ensure optimal service and quality to Baker’s customers.


 Essential Functions – Duties may include the following as needed:

  • Provide day to day direction to Branch Administrative Specialist(s) on compliance with strategic initiatives and adherence to proper business processes for the Region(s).

  • Coordinate and report regularly the status of key initiatives and activities to Branch, Region and Field Operations leadership.

  • Responsible for the implementation/rollout, oversight and monitoring of operations, accounting, asset management, billing and general administration of new core business processes within their assigned Region(s).

  • Manage the uniformity of Policies and Procedures that include the best practices identified at the branches.

  • Work with the Global Controller to ensure that all new accounting policies and procedures are communicated, implemented and fully understood by branch and regional personnel.

  • Assist the General Manager and Branch Operations Manager in completing and tracking all capital requests through the Authority for Expenditure (AFE) process.

  • Coordinate with the Branch Administrative Specialist(s) and the Accounting Department to improve the month-end close process and ensure appropriate expense and revenue cut-off.

  • Coordinate with the Branch Administrative Specialist(s) the sale of inventory or disposition of rental fleet to ensure appropriate processes are followed.

  • Assist with the performance of regularly scheduled counts of fixed assets, assets held for sale, and inventory at the branches and yards within the region.

  • Serve as a key interface with the Senior Manager of Internal Audit and any internal auditor who may be conducting a review of branches within the region.

  • Work with the Regional General Manager and company Pricing Manager to ensure that standard branch pricing for all products is current and up to date.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily working indoors in a regular office environment

  • Occasional exposure to outdoor and indoor field, yard, and shop locations

  • Exposure to dust and noise

  • Utilization of Personal Protective Equipment as necessary


Job Qualifications / Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to drive without restrictions (local/distance over the road)

  • Projected 25% travel with up to 50% travel at peak times.

  • Ability to work within a highly service oriented team culture.

  • High energy level, strong sense of ethics, discretion and adherence to process.

  • Ability and willingness to seek out areas for improvement and solve problems.

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred


Experience & Other:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a lean six sigma environment preferred

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Word.

  • Experience working with an ERP system is preferred but not required.

  • Ultimate comfort with building and implementing processes/procedures to enhance and/or grow efficient operations

  • Rental/industrial experience is helpful

  • State Issue Driver’s License
