The company maintains a rental fleet consisting of more than 20,000 units, including steel tanks, polyethylene tanks, roll-off boxes, pumps, pipes, hoses and fittings, filtration units, tank trailers, berms and trench shoring equipment. BakerCorp serves customers in over 15 industries including oil and gas, industrial and environmental services, refining, environmental remediation, construction, chemicals, transportation, power and municipal works. The company also works with customers to deliver a mix of products and services for a wide variety of applications that include: chemical, manufacturing, refining, construction, municipal, industrial services, environmental remediation, power generation, tank terminal/pipeline operations, transportation, mining, electronics and wastewater.

Broad Function

With a strong focus on safety, the Field Technician performs a variety of complex and skilled tasks pertaining to the setup, installation, maintenance, repair, and service of BakerCorp equipment at customer locations.

Essential Functions - Duties may include the following as needed:

  • Setups and tear downs of Baker equipment

  • Operate company vehicle and other work related equipment such as operating pumps, as required

  • Minor repair & maintenance of equipment; ability to identify issues and help resolve; troubleshoot

  • Responsible for daily activity sheets, logging and reporting

  • Clear understanding of safety requirements and acceptance of safety sensitive culture

  • Generally works under direct supervision

  • All other duties as assigned

    Working Conditions

  • Indoor/outdoor, field, yard, and shop locations

  • Exposure to all types of weather conditions

  • Working on, underneath, and around various types of equipment Ability to travel for periods of time (i.e. up to weeks at a time)

  • Ability to work overtime, nights & weekends

    Physical Requirements

    The size, location and customer type for each BakerCorp branch determines the degree of physical labor required in this job category.  In general, however, the driver job category involves frequent or constant heavy labor, including lifting, carrying, stooping, pushing and pulling. 

    Physical Requirements

  • Lifting or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects

  • Use hands/fingers to handle or feel (operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, position)

  • Ability to move distances within & between warehouses/offices/field locations

  • Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance (ascend/descend, work atop, traverse)

  • Ability to mount & dismount forklift and/or truck

  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, squat or crawl (position self, move)

  • Talk/hear (communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information)

    Job Qualifications

    Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of Operation procedures (work order, inspections, purchase requisitions, and inventory)

  • Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues

  • Works on issues of limited scope

  • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations from which answers can be readily obtained

  • Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

  • Normally receives detailed instructions on all work

  • Mechanical aptitude necessary

  • Ability to be on-call 24 hours per day

  • Ability to make occasional overnight trips

  • Working knowledge of H.D.P.E. pipe

  • May be required to complete HAZWOPER Training

    Education

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) preferred

  • Vocational or University courses preferred

    Experience & Other

  • 1 year of related experience preferred

  • Rental/industrial background preferred, but not required

  • State issued driver’s license required
