The company also works with customers to deliver a mix of products and services for a wide variety of applications that include: chemical, manufacturing, refining, construction, municipal, industrial services, environmental remediation, power generation, tank terminal/pipeline operations, transportation, mining, electronics and wastewater.

Broad Function

Serves to manage prevention of incidents and/or accidents and to deliver and support the organizations objectives and legal requirements.   In addition to continually improving the performance of the EH&S function and management system.  This position will interface and work closely with the Regional General Managers and Branch Operation Managers to review the performance of the branches and help drive the safety culture through the BakerZero program.


Essential Functions

  • Responsible for driving safety awareness and safe work execution for an assigned area.  Close collaboration with Regional Leadership team (dotted line to Regional General Managers)

  • Responsible for performing accident/incident investigations to assess root cause and facilitate mitigation strategies

  • Responsible to perform periodic branch ride-along, safety meetings, observations and inspections to ensure safe work and environmental practices are being clearly communicated and followed by field employees at company locations as well as customer jobsites.

  • Work with regional and branch personnel to implement and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as well as company safety initiatives.Includes periodic audit of regulatory reporting, vehicle licensing, operating permits, etc.

  • Provide initial training as well as recertification as appropriate on safety related programs and topics. Participate in the development and rollout of topical training programs as appropriate

Additional Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Review and follow up on accident investigation reports

  • Conduct periodic investigations (more serious accidents/injuries)

  • Conduct periodic safety audits at branches during the year

  • Develop Safety training material as needed

  • Conduct safety related training with managers

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other regulatory agencies

  • Special safety related projects

  • Develop additional Safety Meeting topics

  • Evaluate all environmental and D.O.T. compliance issues in coordination with branch management and Operations-Field Support

  • Partner with the branches within region to manage programs, policies, processes in support of environmental strategies for waste management, minimization and pollution prevention

  • Ensures that as compliance initiatives are identified or implemented, the appropriate training is planned and delivered

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions include outdoor and indoor field, yard and shop locations

  • Working on uneven ground and near various types of equipment in all types of weather

  • Working underneath equipment

  • Exposure to dust and noise

  • Utilization of Personal Protective Equipment as necessary

Skills & Abilities:

  • Considered subject matter and technical expert

  • Travel to branches within region (s) up to 45%-50% of the time or as needed

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a proactively diverse and inclusive organization

  • Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to execute broad guidelines from management and not be managed by individual tasks

  • Ability to execute project plans for growth, operational improvements in EH&S

  • Good presentation skills for training and development of employees

  • Supervisory experience and knowledge of employment practices


  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety or similar degree preferred

  Experience & Other


  • At least 5 years of experience in safety, environmental and DOT programs

  • Understands U.S. Environmental and D.O.T. laws and can interpret the requirements into specific compliance activities.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations

  • Environmental remediation, waste disposal, and transportation of hazardous materials experience.

  • Able to communicate concepts to all levels so they understand problems and potential solutions.

  • Strong organization and planning skills

  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and oral)

  • Knowledge and understanding of our business and branch operations - desirable

  • Travel to branches within region (s) up to 45%-50% of the time or as needed

  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively about solutions

  • Flexibility to change direction easily and quickly

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

  • Rental/industrial experience is helpful.
